Inside sales executive
about dutch boat factory
We are Dutch Boat Factory and we are changing the way high-performance boats are built. Our core business is hull production using large-scale 3D printing, proprietary materials and a strong
automation mindset. We build hulls for RIBs, workboats and unmanned surface vessels,
including defence applications.
You will be one of our first hires and close to everything: the customer conversations, the deals, the process. Inside sales here means more than the title suggests, in a startup, the job description is a starting point, not a ceiling. Some days you will be qualifying leads; other days you will be handling back-office tasks, helping set up a process, or doing something nobody has done here before. That needs to be fine by you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- You are the first point of contact for inbound B2B enquiries. You qualify quickly, ask the right questions and make sure nothing gets lost.
- You manage the CRM pipeline end-to-end: keeping it clean, honest and up to date. If the process is broken, you fix it. If it does not exist yet, you build it.
- You run discovery calls to understand what a customer actually needs and determine the right next step.
- You handle back-office tasks that keep the commercial side of the business running — admin, follow-ups, coordination, whatever needs doing.
- You work closely with the technical team when customer conversations require it.
- You flag opportunities and bottlenecks before they become problems.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In the first six months, we would expect you to have the pipeline structured and visible, inbound leads handled consistently, and a clear picture of where deals are getting stuck. Beyond that, success is owning the commercial process well enough that we can build on top of it.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone with 2 to 5 years of experience in a comparable inside sales or commercial support role, preferably in a B2B environment.
- Hands-on experience managing or setting up a CRM pipeline (HubSpot, Salesforce or similar).
- Strong communicator in Dutch and English, both in writing and in conversation.
- Structured, takes ownership and does not let things slip through the cracks.
- Comfortable with technical products and curious enough to understand what we build.
- Happy to pitch in wherever needed — this is a startup and the work is not always neatly defined.
- Able to come into the office in Delft — this is not a remote role.
WHO FITS HERE
You are someone who likes doing the work. Not someone who wants to hand off the moment things get operational, not someone building a CV for a bigger company. We want someone who finds it satisfying to bring structure to a messy pipeline, who can hold a good customer conversation, and who does not need everything to be defined before they start. There is real room to grow here, but the job stays hands-on. If that sounds right, it probably is.
BONUS POINTS
- You have sold technical or industrial products before.
- You have experience in the maritime, defence or manufacturing sector.
- You have built a sales process from scratch, not just inherited one.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A fair, experience-based salary. We'd rather discuss the number with you directly than put a range online.
- A central role in a growing startup with a product that is genuinely different.
- Real ownership of the commercial process from day one.
- A small team with no layers, no politics and no unnecessary process.
THE PROCESS
- 30-minute introductory call — we get a feel for each other, you ask what you need to ask.
- 1-hour interview in Delft— your potential future role, how you work, what you have built.
- Short practical — nothing elaborate, just a real situation we want to think through together.
- We make a decision and get back to you within a week.
HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV and a short note about a pipeline or process you have built or improved to info@dutchboatfactory.com. No templates, no formal cover letter. Just tell us how you work and why this kind of role appeals to you. We review every application personally and get back to everyone within a week.
